Employment: Looking for a career in Environmental Sustainability or Renewable Energy? Why not help create one?

The Vancouver Renewable Energy Coop is looking for entrepreneurial environmentalists to help build our business. VREC is a worker-controlled business. We need people who are in a position to perform sales and business development tasks.

This is not a job, it's an entrepreneurial opportunity in a progressive, democratically run business. Having another source of income is essential. Being a member in a workers coop is similar to being a partner in a conventional business except each member has one vote, regardless of their investment, so the workplace is run democratically.  For more information on workers coops visit: www.canadianworker.coop

The Vancouver Renewable Energy Coop is a leader in photovoltaic design and installation in the Lower Mainland, having installed the first grid-intertied photovoltaic systems in several local municipalities. For more information on the Vancouver Renewable Energy Coop, please visit us at: www.vanrenewable.org

Volunteers

If you are interested in learning about renewable energy or helping make a real difference to the environment, then spreading the word about VREC to your friends and volunteering with VREC is  good way to learn and help make renewable energy happen.

Volunteers who would like to provide information on VREC at events, provide professional expertise and advice in a relevant field (engineering, roofing, plumbing, electrical), or who are interested in helping install systems are very welcome. We most frequently need people to help staff booths at trade shows and events, and very occasionally need help installing solar racking. VREC has a part-time volunteer who serves as our volunteer coordinator. However the best way to stay in the loop on volunteer activities is to sign up for our volunteer e-list. When volunteer jobs are available they will be sent out by email to this list.

Note: Not all of our installations require volunteer help, so volunteer opportunities to help with installations come up a couple of times a year.  Volunteer opportunities staffing booths at events alongside worker members, performing research or assisting with assessments are more frequent and are also a good way to learn and get to know us.

Supporters

There are lots of ways to support the work of the coop and the health of the planet. The most direct way is to purchase a renewable energy system for your home or workplace, or to purchase Carbon Offset Credits, which help fund renewable energy systems

  1. Homeowners, cooperatives or businesses with south-facing sloped roof in good condition who would be interested in purchasing a renewable energy system.

  2. Organizations interested in contributing towards a solar energy installations on local homes and cooperatives by purchasing Carbon Offset Credits.
